To be kaleidoscoped = to be made of a combination of broken fragments that magically hold together thanks to their ability of constantly shifting and re-combine themselves; to be made of a myriad of colors

///

"Pages of a Broken Diary" is an artwork series I made in relation to my book of the same title. Both the visuals and the text elaborate on the concept of a past that can't be spoken—or remembered—as is. Narratives of the past resist revelation even when—like ghosts—they keep haunting us. They often take the form of whispered charades, or enigmas, tightly weaving legend and truth. So, these pieces are conglomerates of tiny odds and ends, which each carry meaning. When compounded, these fractals evoke either a place or a mood, a story or a person. But—like gossip—they remain elusive, open to interpretations, asking for the viewers to draw their own conclusions.
