MATT FORD is a writer, artist, and educator from Detroit. They are currently completing their MFA Literary Arts degree at UC San Diego where they also serve under the Black Studies Project (BSP) and the Black Graduate Experience Living and Learning Community (BGELLC). Matt is also the founder of 5D Publishing, LLC where they help acclimate new authors, prospective students, and job applicants to the writing and job search processes, soon to expand into a publishing platform. Their work has been published in The Wall Street Journal, The Creative Independent, Chicago Reader, Kaleidoscoped Magazine (2021), emerge journal, and elsewhere.
To kaleidoscope is to see oneself and others as integral to a cosmic network of infinite artistic and spiritual possibilities. To be kaleidoscoped is to be at peace with this fragmentation and the interstellar frequencies that draw us all together.
This piece is about the ghost of my fiancé who passed away in December 2020. The work gathers and shares the "gossip" of "ghosts"—interspersing pre-existing literary conversations about spiritual liberation with meditations on paranormal love, remembrance, and recollection.
